Guess you didn't notice, that "we're gonna burn inventory" article is dated six weeks ago!

How successful is the "inventory burn?" Are Intel's inventories down? If they are down at the Q2 CC, it will be because of an inventory writedown.

If he *really* wants to burn off inventory, why is he waiting for Conroe intro to lower prices on Netburst? Shouldn't he be getting rid of all those parts he's [supposedly] not going to be producing anymore before, not after Conroe?

The only reason to pre-announce a price cut and simultaneously HYPE a future product is to push demand into Q3 so that he can declare a Core 2 "victory."

o- a "Core 2 victory" with Core 2 < 3% of Intel sales in Q3
o- a "Core 2 victory" despite it being easy to find 90nm netburst with date codes after July 23.

BTW, I think the July 23 price cuts may actually allow Intel, in Q3, to get back to its Q1 market share, 78%. Certainly possible.
