"Are you then short either stock?"

Those price cuts by AMD spooked me so I dumped my July 30 calls and all my AMD shares first thing this AMD and used some of the proceeds to buy NQ(INTC) july 20 puts and AMD jul 27.50 puts.

I actually thought, having announced those price cuts on the weekend that AMD would have opened much, much weaker than it did and felt relieved to have the opportunity to reverse my position around $26.75.

I just don't see any prospects for much in the way of price strength between now and Q2 earnings for either AMD or INTC. Those price cuts are going to do an axe job on profit margins for both companies. Fortunately, AMD should fare better than INTC owing to AMD's strengthening server and mobile position. As for INTC, they are in a world of hurt as I see it, and owing to their size seemlikely to carry the semis down further...at least until some semi companies post stronger Q2 earnings and thereby detach themselves from INTC's current financial plight.
