I looked at Jones's paper, which isn't an engineers report. It is a speculative piece by a professor of physics and astronomy at BYU(!). The only analysis of this event that I'd be interested in reading is a fully-fledged numerical simulation. But because the conditions of the aeroplane impact on a skyscraper of this size are so unusual, I don't think we have the data needed to create such a model. I work in an school of engineering, and have a friend who is a professor of structural engineering, and I haven't heard any noises from this quarter about the impossibility of the impacts causing the collapses.
