Most of those existing houses are from the '40, '50, 60', and 70's than nobody wants because they are in high crime, cramped little houses.

We live in a house built in the late 1920's, and it has copper wiring from the 1970's... In NJ, much of that aluminum wiring has been redone, and the homes from the 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, and 70's are not going much cheaper than newer homes. Here, this real estate "bubble", "boom" or whatever we want to call it, has lifted all "boats" fairly equally, unless the neighborhood is completely shot.
