AK, you've mentioned the on-avg figure many times. It is not relevant. Intel estimated the exit rate for q4 to be 30%. Did they further qualify it to be "performance desktops" ?

Anyway, I think they were referring to market acceptance (relative to price), and box makers willingness to give shelf space. Not to Intel's ability to fabricate processors.

How many 300 fabs does Intel have ? Five ?

Fab 12 in Chandler Arizona
Fab 11X in New Mexico
Fabs D1D and D1C in Oregon
Fab 24 in Ireland.

I don't know how many can manufacture at 65 nm.

From the discussion about AMD fab 36, I expect one 300 mm fab can supply half of Intel's chips if they are all SC, or 25% if they are DC.

So 3 fabs would be enough to supply all the processor mix. One more for chipsets. And one for development.

Where would the shortage be ? And if 1 fab was not making NGMA, what would it be making ?
