There is nothing "gutter level" or fraudulent about Intel using 4MB of cache on a desktop CPU. Even with 4MB of cache Conroe will be about 15% smaller in size than AMD's current dual-core Socket-AM2 and Socket-S1 CPUs with 1MB of L2 cache. It is very likely that Intel's smaller 2MB L2 Conroe will outperform AMD's 2MB L2 Athlon 64 on a majority of applications.
