Re: Sorry 40w+6w northbridge cannot compete with a 35w DC Turion.

Sorry, you lose. I pointed out a Woodcrest rated near the 35W Turion X2 and now you need to change the rules. And as I pointed out a 2.33GHz Merom will use a 667MHz FSB which will also save power over a 40W Woodcrest. It appears that even a 2.16GHz Merom would be faster than any Turion X2 AMD releases this year.

Centrino did not gain market share because it was the fastest notebook chip

It gained share because it was the fastest notebook chip while being energy efficient, and had a massive advertising campaign behind it.

2) benchmark performance is not the most important factor for notebook buyers

Yep, price and things like battery life are. We know AMD is the low cost supplier and Turion X2 battery life is nothing special.

AMD's "next transistor" is due in the market in less than 3 months.

Does that mean we will see 2.2GHz and 2.4GHz Turion X2 CPUs launched in Q3?
