It seems to me that you're saying that Gore's arguments are scientific and dispassionate, while the critics and dissenters to Gore's arguments (notice that I am not talking about persons who criticize Gore, per se) are either politicizing the debate or mischaracterizing facts to further an agenda.

Oh, lord, if you think that then I'm being misread. In the extreme. Gore is quite passionate in the film. He, in fact, uses the story of this son's being hit by a car, to underline the fact he feels this is one of the central missions of his life.

He certainly has an agenda; he certainly has a mission; and he's very passionate. The question as I see it at the moment is the degree to which he accurately characterizes the state of scientific research.

My accusation to a subset of Gore's critics is that they mischaracterize the state of scientific research and do so, much as the tobacco industry did, to muddle an issue that, like tobacco, is critical for all of us.
