I rode motorcycles for 20 years and wore a helmet for 5 minutes. I'd rather have the vision and hearing to AVOID being hit rather than a little safety AFTER being hit.

Back when I was a teen I had a good friend who was going to Annapolis and working a summer job 30 miles away. Summer, the corn was tall, 6 am and he missed a stop sign on a country road. The Docs said he might have lived if he had a helmet on. When we picked up the wrecked bike his leg was still in it.
