I'm not expert on the wonders of the Chinese economy or Wallyworld for that matter. Still, cars for a "couple thousand bucks". No, I don't see that as remotely possible.

Even a retooled Yugo is going to cost at least 5K <g> And you are correct in that raw materials along would make such a price target impossible to reach.

I am amazed at what the Hyundia entry sells for at $12,500.

On a related automotive note, I've heard some rumors that big V-8 sales at one of the big three are very, very, very bad this quarter. This is the company where you see that Redneck screaming about how great the BIG engine is. Time to retool marketing maybe, and of course retool the cylinder line-up to something small and fuel efficient. Detroit is so far behind the curve it's sad.
