Unintended consequences? I don't give human beings credit for unintended consequences. My gratitude in such a case goes to what ever unknown forces may be deserving. Generally it is simply 'Thank God'! I am grateful to be living in a slave free America but I do not condone what General Sherman did to defeat the Confederate army of the Southern US. I am happy that the US emerged from WWII victorious but I do not support the nuclear bombing of Japanese cities. Every situation is rich and complicated with circumstance both good and evil, leaving me with nothing but my individual conscious as a guide. "the next time you want to support a grandiose military (or fund transfers to another government)... If the cause is good I support it, if not I don't. I recognize that even good causes and good intentions can be contaminated by corruption.
