EC, you are not implying we should do away with pensions, unions and regulations are you?

The truth of the matter is that we have been consuming more than our fair share of the worlds goods and services for a long time and more than we can afford. We were able to do that because we were the first country to have a fully functional democratic constitution, abundant virgin natural resources, isolated, so we have never been invaded, are the world's bread basket and because of our wealth had the currency of last resort.

We also colonized and raped many third world countries along the way. As did all of Europe.

We are now living beyond our means. We import 7% more than we export. The rest of the world goes along with it because we are so rich and stable. But that cannot last and eventually the dollar will fall and reflect this.

The new paradigm shift was going to happen one way or another. And to be honest I am willing to lower my standard of living so people in the third world can eat and live some sort of decent life.

We knew this day (economic paradigm shift)was coming for 50 years.

There are not enough resources for the entire world to live wasting resources like we do. "Conspicuous consumption".
There are not enough resources and we would pollute the earth beyond redemption.

And with everyone having nuclear weapons we cannot solve our problems by fighting wars or just taking from the third world the way we did in the 1800 and 1900's. What were the French, Japanese and US doing in Vietnam for instance. None of those countries had any right to be there. Or any other country other than our own.

China and India can produce cheaper than us because they are paid slave wages becaasue they are so poor. The chinese import 2 billion chicken feet a year for their protein. Hopefully with a worldwide economic system we can move to a more equitable worldwide economy where everyone can live a decent life.

We should think of ourselves as citizens of the world living on the rocket ship earth and all peoples are our brothers and sisters and the welfare of the earth and its peoples are everyone's responsibility.

In my opinion-lol.
