In the spirit of Kevin Drum, who advocated knowing a political ideology, conservatism, by its practices when in charge of the government, one might say, on the heels of this Supreme Court decision, that conservatism is about an invasive, powerful central state (lots of illustrations) closely allied with business interests (large businesses, see the medicare drug bill, telco bills, et al).
The signature policies of liberalism, by contrast, are social security, medicare, and medicaid. Is that 'nuff said, as "they" say. |
