Democrats police their own. Jefferson is a lone case of corruption in the party. He obviously did what he did on his own, secretly, for his own personal gain. It had nothing to do with any other democrats.

Now the GOP needs to police its own. The problem is some of the top GOP leadership itself is deeply corrupt. Delay has removed himself, which is a first step, but heavyweights like Jerry Lewis, Doolittle, Pombo, Barton and some say even Hastert are in deep doo-doo in the Abramoff-Cunningham scandals, and have been doing cash-for-trash deals for years involving billions in tax-payer money.

Jefferson is finished. Let the law take care of him. But now time to root out the real corruption in congress (and elsewhere in government) and every law-abiding Republican should be unified on this. Don't re-elect any crooks, and there are plenty of them up for re-election. Remember it's all our money they're stealing.
