J. Chris Parson: In Texas you must show proof of insurance to get your vehicle re-registered each year. You must have a safety inspection sticker (which includes a smog check to pass) on your vehcile windshild next to your registration sticker each year. In CA, you never have to have your vehicl inspected. You only need provide a smog certificate to register your vehicle every other year, no prove of insurance required. There are so many vehicles in California held together with duck tape cruising the streets it is pathetic. Hopefully Texas will not get "that" bad. However, in the last ten years, due to the massive influx of minorities to the DFW area, the nightly news (murders, rapes, home invasions, car jackings, gang activity, etc) has begun to mirror the LA nightly news....sigh! Dallas-FtWorth, has become yet another minority driven urban war zone. LG
