I recognize that the type of culture remaining in Iraq once our primary mission there is complete may represent the strategic interests of the USA or stand in opposition to those interests. Therefore, I see no harm or insidiousness in promoting mutually beneficial goals.

The extent to which the USA might want to retain any level control should be measured against the extent of autonomy and partnership that Iraq maintains in a relationship with us, no different than any other relationships or alliances in the world.
