I agree with everything you said as it pertains to what humans ought to value. My "ought" is strictly based on what is termed "selfishness". Simply because I recognise that the "Self" can never be isolated from others. Life is interdependent.

I see "selfishness" as Rand and several others do: A rational committment to deal with all others and with the environment as value for value--to the goal firstly of survival and secondly of happiness.

That is all you have ever wanted. But your survival is like mine--LIMITED. So don't worry or think about another life if you cannot live this one...
