Speaking of exercise :-)

Here's some government invasion I support- if government wants to encourage healthy eating, and exercise, that's something I don't see a down side to- as long as we don't go draconian and start punishing people with prison time, or loss of government health care or assistance. But handing out goodies to people who behave the way we want? Isn't that the American way? Isn't that the big carrot we always here about? And I can see a good reason for this society to want people to act in a more healthy manner- if they don't I doubt we can afford to care for them.

"Controls on junk food advertising could be extended to websites, text messaging, computer games, cinemas and posters under radical plans being drawn up by the government, the Guardian has learned.
Ministers fear that plans to clamp down solely on TV advertising would be undermined without a more ambitious approach and are putting together a range of measures to tackle the problem.

They plan to encourage shops and supermarkets to offer extra loyalty card bonus points to customers buying healthy foods low in salt, sugar and fat. And GPs may be monitored to see whether they are prioritising obesity among children.

They're getting close to ban junk food advertising before 9 pm. Of course, one of the real problems is that kids don't exercise much anymore. So, look out for mandatory exercise programs.

And once England does this, can the push to do it here in the U.S. be far behind?"
