Intriguing fight tomorrow night between champ Jermain Taylor vs. Winky Wright [HBO/9:30PM EST]. Taylor (DiBella) certainly don't lack for confidence taking on difficult southpaw Wright. Winky is not much of an offensive fighter and is two steps below Hopkins as a defensive fighter. That being said, Winky is still very tough and tough to look good against.

I'll give Taylor props for lasting the distance with Hopkins twice and for being competitive, but Taylor never solved Hopkins' style. Maybe new trainer Manny Steward will help Taylor, maybe he won't. Taylor's people obviously saw a need for a change and bringing in Steward for Pat Burns is a step up.

Wright has never been stopped and I don't see Taylor knocking him out. I see Wright doing enough to neutralize Taylor's offense and using his good jab to frustrate Taylor and force him to constantly have to reset. The thinking from Taylor's camp has to be to get by Winky's jab and then everything will fall into place. Easier said than done. Winky by split decision over Taylor (it would unanimous but for the HBO house fighter effect).
