It is not a matter of being scared. It is a matter of identifying a threat and working to produce a viable solution that balances the needs of the economy with the need to protect ourselves from a pending threat.

We were warned by the meteorologist experts that New Orleans was threatend with widescale flooding from a hurricane and we ignored the threat and maintained substandard Category 3 protection. We all know what happened to New Orleans due to the negligence of that prediction of widescale flooding. Yeah, there were local politics that caused problems, but the system was designed to fail as Category 3 protection is no good for a Category 4 or 5 storm. Designed to fail!

Now, you would rather just ignore the overhwelming consensus of mainstream climatologists that the planet will warm by 3 to 8 C by the end of this Century and have devasting impacts on low lying coastal areas and on life support systems like crops. Bury your head in the sand of ignorance and pseudo-science if you like, but some of us like to take mainstream science seriously and like to work to avoid or diminsh pending problems. Our grandchildren will thank boneheads like yourself for saying there is no problem, as they deal with the consquences of our negligence and irresponsibility.
