Kerry has never lied nor flipflopped on any major issue.

He twice changed positions, but explained why.

- After 9-11 Kerry changed his stance on capital punishment to allow executions for terrorists

- Last year after realizing that much of the intel the Senate was showed was deliberately doctored by the WH, Kerry finally admitted he regretted ever trusting anything Bushies said, and voting to give Bush war powers. Also because Bush obviously abused those war powers, lied to everyone and violated the trust of congress.

Basically, when a president wants to mislead the country during a crisis, he can get people to do the wrong thing. I watched the film "Fog Of War" last night about Robert McNamara. He had JFK ready to pull out of Vietnam before JFK was assassinated but LBJ was hawkish and lied about the Gulf Of Tonkin attacks to the public. McNamara tried to stop it, but Bush (I mean LBJ) was intent on escalating despite the fact it was an unwinnable civil war quagmire type situation in the making with no clear longterm plan of action against a country which had never really attacked us.

Btw: LBJ tricked congress into giving him the same type war powers Bush got for Iraq. Proof the GOP (and others) did not learn the painful lesson of Vietnam. Now we have another quagmire. And Zarqawi's killing will not stop the violence much at all.
