Indicator of Note. Furthermore, there's a signal called the December Low indicator: It states that if the Dow's closing low in December is violated within the first quarter of a new year, the market will be down at some point later that year.

The indicator has been true every time but one (1966) since it was first developed in 1950. The average drop was 10.7%, varying between 0.3% and 25.1%. Last December the Dow's closing low was 10,717.50. On January 20 the Dow closed at 10,667.39, violating the December low by just over 50 points
