Exactly! It became obvious that the Bush administration had no taste for diplomacy and would only understand the language of force and the reformists were just too soft to be able to deal with this admin.

No.. it's obvious that the entire proposal was a charade that did not have the backing of the Iranian Republican Guards leadership, or the Supreme Guide, the TRUE COERCIVE POLITICAL POWER within Iran.

And it would have been a unilateral approach to a multi-lateral regional and global problem.

Better for the IRGC leaders to face the wrath of international sanctions and be discredited, AND THEN we can discuss reapproachment.

You can't credibly negotiate with political leadership that have no credibility.

There will be reconciliation and restored ties WHEN the Iranian government is replaced with one that is a responsible partner for peace and progress in the region.
