bp, in response to your question, I heard there was a large block buying at the open and it took some time to garner enough shares to fill the order, therefore ARX opened up almost a full point and 15-20 minutes after the bell. Does anyone who has access to time/tape know the size of the block trade??? My gut feel tells me this is the kind of trading pattern one observes just prior to an initiation of Wall St coverage or an upgrade. Look at the price/volume of ARX 2-3 days prior to the initiation of the Oppenheimer coverage and you will see what I mean. My other thought was perhaps some stock trading service/newsletter like Wall Street Strategies, but I really have no info. Does anyone else? it could be something as simple as they are having a really good quarter ( don't forget the $50+ million backlog ) and "Smart Money" usually accumulates well in advance of a good earnings report.
