"Now back to my question, which you avoided. What exactly do wish Iran to have had done over the past 5 years to achieve normalized relations?"

Its a loaded question Sun. It is your claim that iran made an offer and the US refused. Bushies disagree with you but so do other non bushies who claim the iran offer to be just propaganda. Wouldn't iran have helped themselves with the US if they had not maintained rejectionism vis a vis israel/palestine? No actions, all words on one side and on the other, perhaps a missed opportunity that should have been siezed. BTW i remember 9/11 and the immediate aftermath as clear as day. The US didnt have to include iran in the axis but should have held irans feet to the fire regarding giving up al quaeda in iran.
But its now and the iran regime is worse and you will say the US regime is worse as well. Maybe there is a better chance to get something going now between leaders that dont like each other than it was back then when the US was naively waiting for the students. Those iranian students talk much like you--they want regime change but arent willing to be proactive about it. They dont want to risk their lives i guess and i understand that.
