Mike,

Kurlak just reduced 97 and 98 estimates on MU:

NEW YORK, Sept 23 (Reuter) - Merrill Lynch said on Tuesday analyst Tom Kurlak cut his 1997 and 1998 earnings estimates on Micron Technology Inc.

Kurlak reduced his 1997 earnings estimate to $1.05 a share from $1.31 a share and his 1998 estimate to a range of $1.20 to $1.40 per share from $2.75 a share.

The producer of dynamic random access chips said Monday it earned $0.33 a share in its fourth quarter, below a Wall Street consensus forecast of $0.50 per share.

My questions (a few of many -g-):

Isn't it kind of late to cut 97 estimates, or doesn't Kurlak know when the FY ends?

Also, when did his 97 estimate even get down to $1.37. Did we blink and miss something (as usual with Micron -g-)

BTW, over on the MU thread, PHB notes Fred Hickey comments during the MU conference call.

Kathleen
