these florida gop folks are a special breed

"The Tampa Tribune obtained Florida gubernatorial candidate Tom Gallagher's (R) 27-year-old divorce file. "Because of its age and because no children were involved, most of the Gallagher divorce file has been destroyed. The Tribune obtained portions of the file in April under a condition that it not identify the source providing them."

The most interesting part is when Gallagher's ex-wife sought a restraining order. The judge "said he would have granted the request but chose not to out of deference to Gallagher’s budding political career."

Said the judge: I do not want to embarrass you by entering an order. That would be a matter of public record... Listen to my words very clearly: That would be a matter of public record that might be used adversely against you in the future in one of your future campaigns."

Also alleged in the report: Use of cocaine and marijuana, and sex on the hood of a gold Mercedes.

The Miami Herald: "The revelations come as Gallagher courts religious conservatives, who have embraced him, in part, because he is married and has a 7-year-old son. They see him as more of a committed family man than his GOP primary opponent, Attorney General Charlie Crist, who remains single after a divorce in 1980 following seven months of marriage."
