A rain drop or a tree are irrational. They do not have the ability to observe and consciously understand the logical existence of each other.


Many plants detect and respond to rain.
This is particularly noticable in desert plants whose leaves remain tightly curled to prevent loss of moisture, but unfurl when moisture is present.

Now certainly that consciesness is rather limited, but it would appear to be a difference in quantity and not in kind.
