I missed ASCO..I was in Santa Fe and had the abstracts forwarded..there was only evidence of at best, micro-clinical advances to report..I'd been expecting/hoping that Telik would have ovarian and or lung P3 data..nope..BMY's dasatinib for gleevec resistant CML seems to be the only substantive clinical development..

After gleening the abstract book, I could not muster the motivation to go to Atlanta which for me is a most unpleasant climate for my CFS...Yet, I feel that I missed out on meeting some folk I know and getting the data/scoop from clinicians at the bedside..where I feel I'm closest to the truth..big pharma basically runs these presentations..

I'm finding it increasingly discouraging as I come to the realization that only very small incremental improvements seem to be the goal..DNA, the oncology powerhouse, will spend millions in tax payor money via the NCI/NIH to prove
that Avastin or Tarceva add a few weeks or months to OS..so they allow folk to stay in hospice that much longer..what if the FDA said to drug makers:"don't even insult me with these applications that increase PFS and OS by less than 3-6 months"..I personally preferring 6 months as the cut-off..mediocrity that costs billions..I have to radically accept that this is what the deal is..not condone it, just accept it..sometimes I wish I were one of those people that was not bothered by this kind of stuff..spending several hours thinking/getting frustrated about these things when bills have to get paid, committments kept..

Been in New Mexico since April..on a self-imposed computer/internet embargo..another factor for this bare thread..
