Good post about the real unemployment rate. I would add to that though that millions of Americans are now more part-time employed, consultants, paid less, have much less job security and fewer benefits than 6 years ago.

Also that Elaine Chao Bush's LaborSecretary was caught trying to cheat by classifying McDonalds jobs as "sandwich manufacturing" to hide the hemmoraging of US manufacturing jobs. So can we even trust her numbers?

Clinton created something like 7 times as many jobs as Bush has, and many of the jobs Bush created are lesser jobs and due to the real estate low interest rate boom and the post 9-11 security spending. Also the war spending. As all three of those subside, unemployment numbers will rise.

As for deficit spending, that is what Bush's economy is based on, and the Controller General of the US was recently very alarmed reporting out of control record deficits to the tune of almost a trillion dollars per year. In other words Bush doubled the deficits instead of cutting them in half and very few people are paying attention to this.
