AS, you speak from ignorance. You may want to believe what you're saying, but it simply isn't true.

For starters, what you call "Star Wars" was the Strategic Defense Initiative, or SDI. As a DOD program, it closed out at the end of the research phase somewhere in the 90s. It was continued under other program names. The program was a difficult one, but the requsite research was in fact successful.

Anti ballistic missile (ABM) hardware is now in the field after very successful testing at Vandenberg and White Sands Missile Ranges, among other places. PKs (probabilities of kill) are about .6, meaning that two missiles will likely be launched at incoming threats.

The N Koreans do, in fact, have ICBMs with adequate range to strike the continental US. It's doubtful they have accurate guidance systems to pinpoint targets like we can, but so what? A threat is still a threat.

You can continue to deny anything you don't want to hear, just as you can make things up to support what you do want to believe. But please, take it somewhere where people might believe you.

If you're telling the truth about the physicist friend, he must be a pretty stupid physicist who doesn't read newspapers or literature in his field.
