Thread, NEW BOARD RULE: 3 off topic posts in a thread, or on one subject, per week.

Per week:
A day is too short because of the greatly varying time zones. Obviously it can't be forever either. So it'll probably boil down to something like a couple of days till a week. Let's make it a week initially and see how that works out.

(Below you'll find three bits from my previous post on this subject just in order to be sure everyone had a good chance to react to it. Message 22563296 )

Reason:
I think over time we have come to accept that a certain amount of off topic posts (especially when they're humoristic or containing other normal personal touches) is nice because it shows we are human. Still the sheer amount of off topic posts has gone over the line imo. It wasn't ever the intention of this thread. Also I've seen quite a bit of complaints about it as well.

Implementation:
- After three off topic posts I'll publicly request you to put a stop it (anyone on this board please do inform me, either via PM/email/public reply addressed to me, as I am not reading all posts all of the time).
- If the persons I warned don't stop posting about the off topic I'll ban them following rules earlier laid down by Mani.

If anyone wants a different solution please say so and I'll put it up for a vote, but to get back to a more normalized on topic thread I started implementing this rule already yesterday.

Lastly, please don't make me have to implement this rule often. It's a distinct displeasure to the thread and to me personally every time it has to be done. The thread will read much easier when we all just consciously adhere to the rules again. By ourselves.
Precisely this - a more on topic thread, less insults, and in the end limited active moderation - is what I had in mind when volunteering for the moderator role. Please support me in this.

Regards,

Rink
