Scorpio's Drilling from 8 Level of Nuestra Senora Silver Mine Extends Mineralization, including 7.90 metres of 662.47 g/t Ag, 7.87% Zn, 1.27% Cu, 4.23% Pb and 0.39 g/t Au

VANCOUVER, June 22 /CNW/ - Scorpio Mining Corporation (TSXV:SPM) is pleased to announce underground assay results of ongoing drilling from the 8th level of the Nuestra Senora silver mine located near Cosala, Sinaloa State, Mexico (Table 1).
Peter J. Hawley, President and CEO reports, "Our definition drilling from the 8th level has encountered an extension of mineralization not tested by previous operator, ASARCO. The mineralized zone extends to the south outside and away from the developed area, and is open on strike. Our exploration drilling will continue to test the north and south strike extensions of this zone, which along with the new Hoag discovery, greatly enhances our opportunity to add to the growing resource base at Nuestra Senora."
As previously released, the mapping and sampling of the 8th level indicates that the mineralized envelope is approximately 100 metres in width. Channel chip sampling continues to return consistent metal grades, which also correlate well with results from the 7th level, 30 metres vertically above.

Drill hole data reflect down hole core lengths and actual (uncut) grades. True widths cannot be reliably estimated at this time.
As of June 14, 2006, 1,015 metres of ramp advance and 1,017 metres of exploration crosscuts, drifts and drill bays have been excavated within the Nuestra Senora deposit. Underground drilling now totals 16,838 metres and a surface drill has commenced testing the downward extension of the new Hoag Zone discovery.
Vice President, Exploration & Development, Mr. D. Roger Scammell, PGeo, is the Company's Qualified Person for the Nuestra Senora project. Mr. Scammell is responsible for the current exploration and development program and the preparation of all technical information provided in this release. All technical information for the Nuestra Senora property is obtained and reported under a formal quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) program. Samples are shipped to the ALS Chemex preparation laboratory in Hermosillo, Mexico for drying, crushing and pulverizing. ALS Chemex, Hermosillo then sends the pulps by air-freight to ALS Chemex, Vancouver for assaying. Systematic assaying of standards and blanks are performed for precision and accuracy; check assays are regularly conducted by SGS Lakefield Research.
