How many billions have we spent just on military bases and the embassy building? If we were to pull out the military right now, what do you think would happen to those "investments"? Would the green zone suddenly look like the red zone?

Would we maintain bases? Maintain the embassy? Maintain the green zone?

Will the republicans walk away from all those expenditures? What was their justification for these expenditures in the first place? Is the plan to abandon these? If so there will have to some splainin' to do.

The invasion and occupation of Iraq goes way deeper than looking for WMD or bringing democracy to the Middle east. Follow the money. You don't build an embassy like that and bases like those if you plan on turning over the situation to the Iraqis.

When you look at the investment made in Iraq, you begin to understand the gravity and true meaning behind the republican revulsion to "cut and run".
