Peak Technologies Inc (Alberta: PKT.A) today announced that PeakJet, an Internet browser accelerator, will be distributed with Web America Networks' Internet access software on Connections(TM), the interactive CD-ROM that ships with US Robotics brand x2(TM) (56Kbps) modems from 3COM Corporation (Nasdaq: COMS). Peak will also distribute Web America Networks' nationwide 56K Internet access service as part of PeakJet's distribution.
PeakJet enables users to surf the Internet at greater speed by preloading links and sites, increasing modem utilization, and learning a user's browsing habits. "With the addition of this agreement with Web America Networks, Peak's partnering programs are expected to exceed 750,000 trial units shipped each month to qualified Internet users," stated Nick Vermeulen, vice-president of business development at Peak Technologies.
Web America Networks is the first Internet Service Provider (ISP) to provide nationwide Internet access with 100% US Robotics X2 56Kbps technology and also the first to provide local access in nearly 10,000 market areas.
Douglas Kennedy, Web America Networks' vice-president for marketing and sales, explained, "It makes perfect sense to combine a performance enhancing tool like PeakJet with our high speed, digital network. When you combine PeakJet with our best-of-breed Internet service and technology, our dial up customers clearly come out on top."
