JeffreyHF. On the debate whether Nokia needs a license or not in CDMA by using ODMs - note that HTC (the Taiwan ODM selling WCDMA devices) are dealing with all royalties for its customers. I don't think operators like o2 that brand HTC devices are Qualcomm licensees. So I disagree with you here (although let's just say none of us have seen the Ts and Cs). Once again - its very odd that Nokia are shutting this down before their license expiry.

Your second point is an interesting one. How do you seperate quality from quantity when it comes to IPR. Is radio layer patents more important than layer 2 or layer 3 patents for the WCDMA standard? I don't think you can argue that either way.
