I thought that with the spinoff, QCT was taking a limited set of patents, i.e. only those related to chipsets, and most of the patents were going to QTL. Now, it may be the case that most of the current R&D is being spent on chipsets to get all the versions out there and add HSDPA and EVDO A.

So the issue would be which would take care of future revisions of the technology and improvements? I would think that it would take more than 20 employees to do that and that the Qualcomm company after SPINCO would have been a lot more than 20 employees. It may be that in the current structure, QTL is just 20 lawyers, but in the Spinoff structure, everything besides QCT would be the remainder of the company.
