Also the visit Heisenberg made to Copenhagen during the war remains open to interpretation. He told his old friend Niels Bohr that Germany was close to developing an atomic bonb. That last meeting was only a few minutes long. Bohr was shocked, horrified, and terminated their relationship. Yet the possibility remains that, at great personal risk, Heisenberg was sending a warning to the Allies. Was he really a Nazi? Hard to say.
