"........if Saddam was such a threat why wouldn't the Israeli's next store take him out?"

He was a threat, he was breaking international law, he aided terrorists, he was an avowed enemy of the United States who had tried to kill one of our former Presidents. And we had been attacked on 9-11-01 and had to re-assess future dangers.

Taking out Saddam gave the opportunity to eliminate a threat, punish a rogue leader that would not follow the conditions of his surrender and MOST IMPORTANTLY to establish a democracy in an area that badly needs it. A legal way to bump this region into modern times and set an example for the rest of the region.

Comparing it to why Isreal (a country less than 1/10th the size of the U.S.) didn't attack them shows a very limited range of thinking. If that is a real reason for you to think it is bogus that we took him out you should think more on the Issue. Israel has its hands full with people killing their citizens and a neighbor called Iran that thinks they should be eliminated. Taking on a country of equal size (although infrerior power) would be an absolutely idiotic thing for them to do.
