Also, there was no "insurgency" in either case, which meant there was no ongoing violence once the war was over. The situations are quite different from the current one in Iraq.


We invented Shock and Awe in WWII. When we dropped two atomic bombs on Japan the result of using WMD, twice, demoralized Japan and Germany. No chance of an insurgency against the country that had the power and the will to incinerate entire cities with a single bomb.
