I think we just have a different philosophy and perception of life EC:

Taking a less esoteric and more straight forward example lets see how each of the people saw the Vietnam war? History has shown that war filled with lies and was stupid. LBJ lied about the Tonkin gulf resolution and the domino theory was nothing more than a bunch of paranoid old men with stupid ideas.

Exactly like Cheney who makes stuff up, misrepresents the truth and lies. Sends other kids to war but got 5 deferments for the Vietnam war saying he had better things to do. A chicken hawk-lol.

And like Bush and Cheny connecting the Iraq war to 9/11.

Russell and Pauling saw the Vietnam war as the lie it was, Teller supported the war as I remember. Pauling and Russell also saw the validity of the 60's existential movement toward more personal freedom. Teller fought against it.

Teller was sort of like Curtis Lemay. The man who would have probably started world war three if John and Bobby Kennedy had not stopped him.

Teller to me was the classical right wing extremist who cannot see the forest for the trees.

If Teller were alive (he is dead isnt he-lol?) he would probably be telling people there is no global warming. He was not a responsible man. Teller had no problem with the House of UnAmerican Activities run by Joe Mcarthy.

He was persona non grata to pretty much the entire scientific community and for good reason in my opinion.

And I think he loved Nixon and Nixon loved him-lol.
