Some dumbass war in Iraq isn't making the world any safer. Americans are getting killed there BTW - 16 this week alone - that’s more 16 Americans dying than would be the case were Bush had not invaded Iraq. So arguing the Iraq invasion makes Americans safer is plain dumb - it puts Americans in harms way.

This notion that the US has to present this aggressive uber militaristic posture in the world to be safe is absurd. The US would be perfectly able to defend itself spending a quarter what it spends on the Military and having 1/10 as many nuclear devices. BTW 1/10 the nuclear devices would still be 1000 nuclear bombs - enough to blow up the world about 15 times over.

The US military has 7200 Abrams Tanks. 7200! What the hell you gonna do with 7200 tanks even if some new war breaks out? As long as the US Military is so huge its inevitable that it gets used in dumb places like Iraq.

Its really questionable what a great Army with all this weaponry can really accomplish anyway. The Vietnamese fought with some weapons made out of bamboo. Bamboo! Now the world's greatest fighting force is seemingly bogged down in Iraq. Its somewhat embarrassing - really.
