Where to draw the line between personal privacy and the need for intelligence is not an easy thing to decide. And I fully appreciate the gravity of the situation GWB is in. My feeling is that the debate should involve the full Congress, rather than with the back room secrecy that is now being slowly leaked, even to members of Congress. Previous Presidents who exceeded their Constitutional authority appealed to Congress soon afterward for its opinion on the matter.
