"but by that definition ya gotta leave 'Iraq' off of that list!"

It's not there yet. Your view accurately describes the situation now, and that is the best they can do iyo. I think they can do better, and have a good chance to have a unified country.

"No Sunni Arab in his RIGHT MIND would want to 'move' there right now"

We have to help them solve the conditions there "right now", and you feel it is the best the Iraqis can do, so you want to settle for that.

"but that doesn't tell me WHO to support in the Iraqi Civil War.."

The good guys from all backgrounds. I can't for the life of me figure out why you can't figure that out.

"Right now I see mostly failing and foolish and short-sighted policies"

You see failing because you are pessimistic by nature. And you seem to buy the demo line that this is short sighted. It is so "far sighted" that you can't see it. Bush is looking towards a future of a democratic society for the 1st time in the Arab world. Doesn't seem short sighted at all to me. Seems to be a long term goal with the dems wanting to cut it short.

"and I am not in favor of spending a dime more of borrowed money unless someone can convince me that a more realistic strategy, with better odds of succeeding, is in place"

So you want to guarantee failure by quitting. America's debt is very reasonable, and if peace and prosperity breaks out in the world our debt will be a thing of the past. The percentage of GDP is quite small. Would be like a guy making $100,000 grand a year having a few thousand in debt. Silly that so many are so alarmed. I think part of the reason is rooted in pessimism. They can't invision America being prosperous over the long run. Kind of short sighted, I would say.

"When you find yourself driving over a cliff"

Only the pessimists and doubters see Iraq like this.
