It IS difficult for liberals to understand Islamic motivation. The Islamic world has brainwashed it's people to hate Christians and Jews. A large percentage of Muslims have ONLY learned Islam, have no skills, and suffer from poverty and deprivation. The rank and file Muslim is easily led, and have been brainwashed into believing that they will get a much better live in Heaven, if they will give up their own life blowing up other people's families.
Also...... we don't have to demonize the insurgents. Their actions speak for themselves. Their willingness to murder women and children, whether Christian, or Jewish or their own fellow Muslims, speaks volumes. They act like inhuman beasts, and think like inhuman beasts.

Do you really feel that the Iraqis, even though they have been brainwashed for many decades, prefer to be enslaved, starved and brutalized by Muslim dictators?

Most people around the world would love to be just like Americans. Many hate us because they are jealous. If America would open up immigration to anyone in the Middle East who wanted to come here, hundreds of millions would come here any way that they could.
"Pulling out may end a lot of the hostilities in Iraq as the occupying Army leaves. Maybe letting the Sunni and Shites fight it out once and for all and separate into separate states is the way to go. Why is it the US's burden to try to keep two tribes of people who hate each other's guts together in one country?"
Pulling out would lead to Iran taking over Iraq. Iraq would become another Islamic terrorist state, with huge oil wealth. They WOULD use that oil to blackmail the rest of the world, and to purchase nuclear weapons and other weapon systems, which they would use to destroy Israel, Europe and the US. The cost of cutting and running would be very high.
