Jay, you are a riot, wise and witty, you having committed to the written word something I have done for years, pulling the Canadian Maple Leaf form my wallet, the .9999 gold well worn now but still beautiful in its color & weight & inertness, many times as I ponder the possible coming financial debacle Greensputin has wrought, the yellow mass gives me pause for a bit of peace in my soul. I have read many times Greensputin's essay "Gold and Economic Freedom", easily found with title search on google, written in 1966 before he moved to the dark side, and I wonder how well he sleeps at night looking back on his own work. There is an interesting essay by Chris Laird in financialsense.com today, posing the hypothetical question of what might happen should the dollar fall to zero, in sum so terrible that central bankers would not willingly let it happen no matter how much they hate the USA or the dollar, the prime mover of worry being uncharted events, chaos theory looms its head in unexpected consequences of just about everything, jeez!! with 298 trillion in derivatives out there, and last week there a definition of derivatives was quoted on the same site at its most basic, a derivative is a ...bet...nothing more...nothing less. FWIW many here might enjoy and glean from both safehaven.com AND financialsense.com
good week everyone
jim black now of Austin TX, back home at last
