That attack reminded me of the tunnel warfare used by the Vietcong against the Americans in Vietnam in the late 1960s.

In Vietnam, the Vietcong succeeded, in a couple of instances, of tunneling into and right under Americans' camp and emerged at night to stab the commanders to death in their tents and escaped unnoticed. The Vietcong were smart enough to have eaten stolen American rations for days prior to the attack and washed themselves using American soap so that guard dogs were unable to distinguish enemy from foe by smell at night.

Had the Vietcong eaten stuff like Matzoh, for example, the guard dogs would have barked like crazy!!!
