"I can't be held responsible for what someone else imagines that I 'actually mean'"

Being responsible for what YOU mean will be easier if you consider the context of the conversation when you interject a comment. To ignore that will just increase the chances of being mis-understood. You are not "responsible" for what someone else thinks you mean, but it seems you would want them to accurately understand your view.

"or goes far beyond my specific words. :-)"

Again, people do consider comments based on the current conversation. Consider the context of the conversation if you WANT to be understood. I think you understand this concept, and play off it a little bit.

"Anytime you may have a question, just ask"

We've seen where this goes. And I refuse to go there;-)

You should make your points clear enough to where that is not necesary. If someone doesn't ask you the question, then the result is that you are mis-understood. Which I am sure isn't what you want. Is it?
