Getting back to reality, the only folks who've talked about seceding have been liberals in the blue states after the last election.

As I said, I propose that the red states secede. In Congress they're about to debate a Constitutional amendment to allows Congress to legislate against desecration of the flag. If the legislation is phrased like that any laws related to flag-burning as a form of free speech will most likely be unconstitutional. Why bother with this approach? The red states should secede and they can "fix" their own Constitution to their only liking in one fell swoop.

The can ban flag burning.
They can ban gay marriage.
They can ban abortion.
They can get rid of the nasty amendment on State's rights.
They can make it clear that "privacy" is not a Constitutionally protected right.
They can update the 2nd amendment and replace militia with individual rather than try to dodge the issue by not running their case[s] up the Federal Judiciary to the USSC.
They can make their USSC a body of elected officials answerable to the people rather than an independent body that the Framers intended.
They can have term limits for their Congressional members.
They can re-write the authority/responsibilities of Congress to provide for the line item veto.
They can make sure that their Constitution would support the Constiutionality of the Alien and Sedition Acts.
The could even codify "One nation under Jesus Christ." That in itself would lock up ratification in the bible belt.

I'm sure with some moderate effort we can extend the list substantially.

The red states are pretty unhappy with the Constitution of the United States and the authorities and responsiblities of our current government. There's a clear conflict of values. Let them have their own country; with their own Constitution; implementing their own values. I can't boot them out. There's no legal way to do that. But I can plant the seeds of secession in their minds. Just like the GOP does, I'll use fear and bigotry as a tool to plant the seed and nurture it. Be afraid of the homosexuals, the femi-nazi agenda, the liberal assault on American values, .... you know all the songs. They can be used to achieve different goals.
