NGAS Resources' years of growth have put it at No. 22 on Fortune Small Business magazine's "Small Business 100" list, which ranks the fastest-growing small public companies in the United States.
Rankings are based on three-year growth in earnings, revenue and performance.
ADVERTISEMENT The Lexington, Ky.-based natural-gas producer made the list because of its three-year revenue growth of 96.5 percent and its three-year total return of 117.5 percent, the magazine said.
Its No. 22 ranking puts it above average this year, but the company ranked third on the Fortune list last year.
It's 96.5 percent revenue growth ranks second among the 100 companies, but the company made only $1 million in net income on revenue of $62.5 million last year, and it has an earnings per share annual growth rate of negative 43.1 percent, putting it at the very bottom of the list when ranked by that criteria.
Cincinnati-based LCA-Vision, which provides laser vision correction under the LasikPlus brand, topped the list of fastest-growing companies.
The "Small Business 100" list will run in the July/August issue of Fortune Small Business.
